About Hazaribagh Wildlife National Park
The Hazaribagh National Park lies in the newly formed state of Jharkhand. The sanctuary spread in an area of 184 sq km and lies at an altitude of 615 m. the park have the undulating terrain and steep hills with dense tropical forests and grass meadows.

The Hazaribagh National Park has abundant wild animals like the Chital, Nilgai, Panther, Sambar, Sloth Bear, Tiger and Wild Boar. The Cheetal, Kakar, Nilgai, Sambar and Wild Boar are among the most easily and often spotted animals particularly near the waterholes at the time of the dusk. The population of the tigers is very less. According to 1991 Census, there were 14 tigers in the park. The tigers are really difficult to sight.

A 111-km long stretch of the road in the sanctuary takes the tourists to the remotest corners and masonry towers of the park. The road, strategically laid down, offers excellent opportunities for the view of the wild animals. The tribal population also lives around the sanctuary. The ark has many watchtowers that act as the perfect hideouts to see the wildlife in its natural surroundings.

Around Hazaribagh Wildlife National Park
The Palamau Forest Reserve is the other major wildlife sanctuary of this region. The tourists can visit the Canari Hill, which is at a distance of 5 km from the park. The excursion tours can be taken to Rajrappa Falls and Suraj Kund Hot Spring, located at a distance of 89 km and 72 km respectively.

Travel Tips
Tourists should not cause any damage floral and faunal life. The flora should not be plucked to take back home. You should not kindle any kind of fire; throw lit matches and cigarette buds. Do not throw or leave trash, litter and polyethylene bags in the forest. Firearms and chemicals should not be taken into the forests as they may cause harm to the wildlife and the vegetation. Never play radio and tape recorders as their frequency and voice might disturb, scare or irritate the animals.

Climate
Hazaribagh experiences Tropical Climate with hot summers and cold winters. The maximum temperature during the summer months rises to a high of 41.1°C. The minimum temperature of the region drops to a low of 19.4°C. The monsoon months are between July and mid-September. The tourists should carry light cotton clothes for the summers and light woolen for the winters. The best time to visit the park is from October to March.

How To Reach
The nearest airport to the Hazaribagh National Park is at Ranchi, which 91 km away from the park. The airport is connected well through the air route with Calcutta, Patna, Lucknow and Delhi by regular Indian Airlines flights.

The nearest railway station to the Hazaribagh National Park is at Koderma, which is 59 km away.

Hazaribagh town is connected by well-laid network of roads to Ranchi, Dhanbad, Gaya, Patna, Daltongunj, and Calcutta via Asansol-Govindapur-Barhi. The Hazaribagh National Park is 19 km away from the Hazaribagh town.

The accommodation facility is available within the park. There is a small tourist lodge with four single rooms at the park along with a small canteen next to it. A short distance away from this lodge is a Forest Rest house, which has a complete suite. Further away, towards the edge of a clearing are four cottages.

Hazaribagh is the nearest city to the Hazaribagh National Park. Most of the communication facilities like STD/ISD and postal services are available there. Internet facilities are available in Ranchi.
